Why did I develop this?
Email is constantly available on most people's desktops. At the same time, its a genuine time-consuming pain to key in acquaintance's numbers to the phone's tiny keyboard. Its much quicker to shoot off an email, and then lookup (perhaps using an established bookmark) the cache of information on the wireless internet. Try it. I think you'll agree. My experience has been that it takes about 12 seconds to forward the email to the use-it-or-lose-it vcard-generator. Then it takes another 15 seconds to browse over to the (bookmarked) URL using your handset, and to accept the new Vcard. Using the old way -- to store a number and name (using multi-tap) for an 11 character name and 10 digit number takes about 50 seconds. Obviously its going to take much longer where additional numbers and addresses are involved. |
